If you are planning an exciting trip to Cuzco we suggest you take a minute and read on. There is nothing like having all the needed information before embarking on an exotic journey such as this. So before packing your bags I want to give you a small glimpse at what is ahead of you. Forewarned is forearmed so lets make sure you are well aware of everything before arriving.

None of the following information will save your life but it will make your trip much more enjoyable. I’ll include a brief history of the city and surroundings just enough to make you want to learn more. I’ll also list great hotels and hostels for those on a tighter budget, picturesque restaurants, city tours and how to rent a car which isn’t always easy in South America. And of course there is the wild nightlife which is ever present in this magical city.

There is such a broad variety of places to stay, visit and tour that you’ll end up wanting to stay longer just to visit them all. I suggest you spend at least 5 days to a week in Cuzco to be able to enjoy it to the full and not leave thinking you might have missed something.

For those of you that want to visit the breathtaking Machu Pichu, Cuzco will be your portal. You can take a train from Cuzco to Machu Pichu or go on the famous Inca Trail which can take you two long trekking days or for the more adventurous there is even a 7 day trail. Most hotels offer tour packages to visit Machu Pichu, Sacsaywaman and the Sacred Valley.
